I welcome both adults and young people from the age of 11 and upwards. Lowering Anxiety & Coping With Stresses
Panic, anxiety and constant worry can have a debilitating impact on your life. Similarly, on going stress can be mentally exhausting and physically damaging. It can get in the way of you enjoying life or being successful in the way you know you could. I have helped hundreds of people stop the negative spiral and feel calm once more. They discover the skills they need to cope with daily living, and take on challenging situations; which means they go on with their lives with the confidence that they can cope and thrive.
Recovering From Trauma
Events in life can rock our sense of security, in places, situations or other people. In prolonged or extreme situations the fight and flight response remains active. Techniques to allow your nervous system to process these experiences can remove the ongoing emotional response in everyday life, giving you back your control.
Lifting Low Mood & Depression
Psychotherapy is effective at lifting depression gently yet effectively, and often surprisingly quickly. As your energy, mood and motivation improve, psychotherapy helps you find and implement changes in your life so that you can live into the future with the confidence and knowledge that you are back in control.
Getting a Good Nights Sleep
Sleep is critical to how we cope with the day and is often disrupted when we need it the most. There is a suite of tools I use to help you wake up well rested and emotionally ready for the day ahead. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve had a sleep problem for; it’s not too late to enjoy sleeping well once more.
Learning mindfulness & other long term strategies
My aim for people I work with is that they have the tools they need to carry on improving even beyond our work together and the confidence that they will cope no matter what life throws at them. However, what works for you will be different from what works for other people; therefore I work with you to find the right tools and strategies that work well for you.
You may already be interested in using mindfulness as a tool for improving your mental health. Mindfulness is best described as an art of living, rather than a therapy in itself. However, when you are in a good place and feeling better, there are techniques and learnings that can be therapeutic and support your mental health. I am a trained mindfulness teacher, and would be very happy to talk about mindfulness when you are at a good point in your journey, if this is of interest to you.
Reducing Fear & Phobias
Experiencing fear and phobias can feel irrational, we feel out of control and the response out of proportion. Often our loved ones have a hard time understanding why we can’t just ‘get over it’. Solution focused work, hypnosis and the rewind technique offer gentle, yet very effective routes back to calmness and confidence.
I can work with you to understand these emotional and physical responses and help you take back your control both physically and emotionally. We can calm and reprogram your flight and fight response to a more appropriate level, so you can get on with enjoying life.
Building Confidence & Self Esteem
Low confidence and poor self esteem often come hand in hand with other issues listed here. They can be the root of us not taking control of moving forward and making the most out of life. Confidence feels magical when we have it, and unobtainable when we don’t! Nevertheless, it is totally possible to grow confidence, no matter what has happened in the past, and what you face in your present. I can help you grow your confidence and help you make good decisions for yourself, and perhaps most importantly, to do so in a way that you understand how to maintain this change into the future.
Resolving IBS & Improving Physical Health
Hypnotherapy is recommended by the NHS for IBS sufferers. It can quickly ease symptoms, and help you back to health. Deep relaxation and engaging your bodies innate healing systems can help improve and resolve many physical conditions. It is particularly effective for conditions exacerbated by stress, such as headaches, pain and fatigue.
Developing & Improving Relationships
Relationships are the cornerstone to a happy and fulfilled life, and when they are not going well we can be deeply affected. I can help you overcome social anxiety, gain the skills to establish friendships, or to learn how to improve important relationships in your life.
Changing Habits & Overcoming Addiction
Not only are our daily habits the key to success in life, those that are detrimental to our wellbeing can be very destructive emotionally and physically. You may be looking for help to create and maintain positive habits, or help to get rid of those habits that are not in your best interest. It can be tricky to changing habits with will power alone; teaming up with a therapist can help enormously as modern psychotherapy tools help enormously. Its great to know you can change habits and recover from addiction with confidence, and know you can learn strategies to maintain the change in the future.
